I’ve been converting our drill press at work to be used as a mill for small jobs. We have a cross-slide/rotary table to move the work piece around where I need it to be (the most time consuming portion was making the black adapter bracket for the table to mount to the drill press). The milling drill bits I’ve had for a while, but couldn’t use them up until now. I used an old piece of threaded rod to test how well it worked. It turned out not too bad.
The X and Y control are straightforward, but I will be adding in a bracket to control the Z component. We don’t plan to do anything too exact with this setup, but there are several times where it will be useful for making slotted or radius holes in brackets, etc.
